CALL TO WORSHIP

I love You, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my Rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my Rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
…For who is God, but the LORD?
And who is a Rock but our God?

… The LORD is alive! Blessed is my Rock!
Exalted be the God of my salvation…
So I give thanks to You, O LORD, among the nations;
I sing praises to Your name.

                                 – Psalm 18:1-3, 31, 46, 49 (esv, cjb)

PRAYER

Similarly, the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we don’t know how to pray the way we should. But the Spirit Himself pleads on our behalf with groanings too deep for words; and the one who searches hearts knows exactly what the Spirit is thinking, because His pleadings for God’s people accord with God’s will.

– Romans 8:26-27   cjb

God invites us to come to Him in prayer through Christ Jesus, our new and living way, the One who has washed us clean from our sins and who gives us confidence to approach a holy God.

  1. Pray for two or three other FBCNR members or regular attenders — Pray for their growth, stability, health, and joy in these days.
    • “And take the helmet of deliverance along with the sword given by the Spirit, that is, the Word of God; as you pray at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests, in the Spirit, vigilantly and persistently, for all God’s people” (Eph. 6:17-18 CJB).
    • For an updated list of members and attenders, contact the church office.
  2. Pray for our governing authorities that God would grant them much wisdom to rule and lead well.
    • First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:1-5).
    • Presidential Prayer Team Daily Prayer Briefing, listing leaders at many levels of our government.
  3. Pray for our Missionaries of the Week: Caleb and Julia Kudlo,2017-Oct_Caleb-n-Julia-Kudlo
    CityView Church, Cleveland, Ohio

    • Prayer requests from Caleb:
      • Julia’s new Bible class and continuing work at the AIDS rehab center
      • Caleb and Julia as they minister through “on-line Bible studies and Instagram discipleship” while still being part-time students
      • “The physically vulnerable” in CityView and in Cleveland — “We are a little more aware of human frailty in this season. Including Miss Kim and Pastor Ken, many in our church family are at an especially high health risk.”
      • “The spiritually vulnerable” — “I want to lift up those young believers navigating their faith along for the first time. Furthermore, we have many single people completely isolated and lonely during this time. May they be strengthened through this quarantine, and may the church rise up to reflect the light of Christ within our church family and without our city.”

4. Pray for open doors for members and regular attenders of FBCNR to share the hope and peace we have in Jesus with people who need to hear the gospel of our Lord.

through the skies in His majesty.
The eternal God is your dwelling place,
and underneath are the everlasting arms.”

* Jeshurun – a poetic name of affection for the people of Israel meaning “the dear, upright people”
